Job Description
Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to deliver exceptional customer service, manage stock merchandising, maintain accurate shelf labeling, and ensure high standards of housekeeping. This role requires a proactive individual committed to maintaining a safe, orderly, and efficient store environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10/NQF Level 3 with 1 year of relevant experience or Grade 12 qualification.
  • Proficiency in English and the dominant local language of the store’s area.
  • Valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Basic numerical skills for accurate calculations.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service

  • Provide knowledgeable product advice and resolve customer inquiries promptly.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints professionally.

Merchandising Standards

  • Safely merchandise bulk stock according to store layout guidelines.
  • Ensure designated areas align with planograms and layout plans.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain obstacle-free aisles for customer safety and ease of movement.
  • Update shelf price labels promptly and accurately.
  • Complete daily checklists for canteen and toilet/shower facilities.

Safety Compliance (OHSA)

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of protective gear.
  • Report potential hazards and ensure safe stock placement in designated areas.
  • Escalate discrepancies to the Store Manager immediately.

Manage Stock Loss

  • Identify and report damaged stock to the Store Manager.
