Your Career Starts Here. Not in 5 Years. Now.

At Capitec, we don’t believe in making you wait for a title to make an impact.

We believe in interns who ask “why?”, who spot problems and fix them, who bring energy to meetings on a Monday morning, and who treat client service like it’s personal. Because it is.

This is not a “make-coffee-and-watch” internship. This is a 12-month programme where you work on real projects, with real teams, solving real business challenges that affect 22+ million clients.

From day one you’re encouraged to think like a CEO. Curious. Accountable. Client-obsessed. Ready to learn.

If you’ve just finished your degree and you want to start your career in one of Africa’s fastest-growing banks, this is your entry point.

About Capitec Bank

Banking Made Simple. Banking Made Better.

Capitec started with one idea: make banking affordable, accessible, and human. Today we are the largest retail bank in South Africa by client base, and one of the most admired brands in the country.

But we’re not big because we’re complicated. We’re big because we’re simple.

What makes Capitec different:

Client First, Always: Every decision starts with “how does this help the client?” No jargon. No hidden fees. Just clear, honest banking.

Innovation at Speed: From the Capitec app to cardless ATM withdrawals, we build products people actually use. We move fast, test, learn, and improve.

People Who Care: 16,000+ employees who are empowered to solve problems, not just follow scripts. We hire for attitude and train for skill.

A Culture of Ownership: At Capitec, you don’t need permission to do the right thing. You need courage, data, and a client in mind.

Our headquarters in Stellenbosch is where strategy meets execution. Century City and Sandton are our other key hubs where tech, marketing, risk, and operations come alive.

When you join Capitec as an intern, you join a bank that is reshaping how South Africans bank, save, and borrow. You also join a team that will invest in you.

The Internship Programme: What It Actually Looks Like

Forget shadowing. You’ll be doing.

The Capitec Internship is designed to throw you into the deep end, with a life jacket. You’ll be placed in a business unit that matches your degree and interests, and you’ll spend the year contributing to projects that matter.

Here’s what you can expect:

- Real Business Challenges
You won’t be working on “practice” cases. Last year’s interns helped:

- Analyse client data to reduce call centre wait times

- Test new features for the Capitec app with 500,000 users

- Build dashboards that track fraud patterns in real time

- Support marketing campaigns that reached 3 million people

You’ll present your work to managers. Your ideas will be debated. Some will be implemented.

- Learn By Doing
Each month you’ll have learning sessions on topics like: data analysis, agile working, client experience, financial risk, and how a bank actually makes money. You’ll be paired with a buddy and a manager who’s invested in your growth.

- Work Alongside Experts
You’ll sit next to actuaries, software engineers, data scientists, HR business partners, and marketing strategists. Ask questions. Volunteer. That’s how you get noticed.

- Build Career-Ready Skills
Beyond your degree, you’ll build:

Commercial thinking understanding how your work drives profit and client value

Problem solving using data to make decisions, not gut feel

Communication presenting to senior leaders by month 6

Ownership because at Capitec, if it’s your project, it’s your responsibility

By the end of 12 months, you won’t just have “intern” on your CV. You’ll have stories, results, and a network.

A Week in the Life of a Capitec Intern
