SANParks is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Chartered Accountant to fill the critical role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on a fixed-term contract of 5 years. This is a strategic leadership opportunity to shape the financial future of South Africa’s premier conservation organisation, based at our Head Office in Groenkloof, Pretoria.

📋 KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As CFO, you will provide world-class financial management, ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, and other legislative requirements, while driving SANParks’ funding and finance strategy. You will lead the finance team, manage financial reporting, optimise commercial opportunities, and partner with key stakeholders to ensure SANParks is sustainably funded to fulfil its conservation mandate.

🚀 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve as CFO and financial expert to the CEO and SANParks Board, ensuring PFMA compliance.

- Develop and execute financial management and sustainability strategies.

- Oversee financial controls, reporting, and compilation of Annual Financial Statements.

- Lead the finance division, driving business efficiency and commercial growth.

- Manage internal and external audits, risk, and compliance with legislation.

- Build strategic relationships with stakeholders, funders, and partners.

- Provide leadership on budget planning, revenue management, and financial mobilisation.

- Oversee supply chain processes, leases, insurance, assets, and payroll administration.

🎯 REQUIREMENTS

- Chartered Accountant (CA SA), registered with SAICA.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting + Honours/Postgraduate qualification; Master’s (Finance/MBA) is advantageous.

- 10–12 years’ experience in financial leadership, with 5+ years at executive level.

- Expert knowledge of PFMA, Corporate Governance, and Accounting Standards.

- Proven skills in financial management, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement.

- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.

- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
